My business has gone through a couple of transitions as i've evolved and decided to shift my focus. I've learned a lot of things along my journey, SEO best practices, google and microsoft ads, funnel building, affiliate marketing, workflows, etc.

Over the past year, my main focus has been on building AI assistant operating systems, appointment booking, database reactivation, support and follow up.

I love making it easier for people to run their business, I want to make their life easier, and i love building operating systems for people who want to be friends - I build partnerships, not just systems.

From April 2021 to January 2024 I was an independent insurance agent with Compass Insurance Advisors.

I chose to be an independent insurance agent because I wanted to build deep relationships with my clients, I wanted more control over my time, and was looking forward to the residual income that came from building my book of business, vs a small one time commission from GoHealth (previous work).

As an independent agent I helped individuals and families with the health insurance marketplace, Medicare advantage plans, and supplement plans. My goal was to make sure the people I scheduled an appointment with understood their best options and how to take advantage of their benefits.

Why I Left Insurance: At first, i thought it was a really great way to help people, but early on, I realized i didnt want to work in insurance long term.

I would get overly worried and frustrated about my client situations. I was mainly just sharing information about what they qualified for, which didn't appeal to me long term, and I didn't like being a middleman for the insurance companies.

Although I enjoyed making things easier to understand for my clients, in many cases, their options weren't that great, and many were only getting insurance because they felt like they had to.

I changed directions because I saw I could create the life I dreamed of while serving people in ways I was passionate about.

  • Adapted to new sales software that was updated and changed weekly

From July 2019 to March 2021 I worked at a call center (GoHealth) helping individuals understand and enroll in Medicare Advantage, prescription drug, and supplement (medigap) plans. Depending on the day, I helped 2-6 people enroll in a plan with 5-20 calls.

I managed and navigated client notes, special enrollment period qualifications, carrier specific platforms, trainings, certifications, and plan information. With each person I talked with I did a needs analysis to determine if they were qualified, compared multiple plans to determine and recommend the best options for them.

My last year with GoHealth I was assigned a sales team to review submitted plans and confirm there weren't any issues. I was responsible for setting up weekly meetings with the sales team leader and sales reps to review any issues, and make sure plans were being submitted correctly.

I started with Rise Inc. as a direct support professional in a group home, and loved it! It was nothing like i'd ever done before, I helped individuals with developmental disabilities complete activities of daily life and participate in other activities for their enjoyment.

In 2017 I moved to the Day program coordinator position, where I was responsible for 5-7 staff and 12-18 clients. I was responsible for planning and managing program activities, resources and budget oversight. I was responsible for reviewing daily client reports from staff, as well as creating weekly and monthly reports on client progression. I conducted interviews, yearly client goal assessments, staff corrections, and monthly training.

I LOVED being a part of the Day program! Most of the people I worked with were considered low-functioning, non-verbal individuals, meaning it was critical that I paid close attention to non-verbal cues to understand their needs and wants. I will forever cherish the memories created and the lessons I learned as the day program coordinator.

I chose to leave the day program because I was about to get married and wanted to make more money for my family. It was difficult to leave, but was something that was important for the next stage of my life.

Other Experience And Final Thoughts About Work

The first dollar I ever made was from selling lemonade with my cousin, we set up shop on the sidewalk in front of his house in hopes that we'd make at least $2 each. We ended up getting $4 each, and I still remember how excited we were. It was incredible getting a Jones soda for the first time with MY OWN money!

We set up a few more lemonade stands after that, sometimes adding extra elements like otter pops, kool-aid, and even our toys! When we felt too old for the lemonade stand, we started mowing lawns for our loved one's and neighbors. That was fun because we made more money, and people were more grateful for our work.

Since then, I've worked at Jimmy johns (my first "real" job), Hoyt Archery where I helped build bow accessories, I sold Cutco knives and pest control, and was part of an MLM called Amway.

Throughout all of my work experience so far, i've realized a few things about myself; I want to feel good about the outcome of my work, and the work that gets me to the outcome.

Throughout my life, there have been two messages about work that have stuck out the most, i'm sure you know them:

One message said "you should do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life".

In contrast, the other message said "It doesn't matter what you do, as long as the outcome provides what you want." Which I interpret as saying - even if you don't like what you do, if you like the outcome, if you like the life it provides you, it's worth it.

I resonate with the first message the most; Our lives do not start when we get an outcome we've been working toward, our lives start when we wake up in the morning, our lives are in every passing moment, and I believe our days should be filled with work that we love, or work that at least feels meaningful.

To create anything of great value in life takes time and hard work, sometimes that work includes shitty tasks that are annoying, but an essential part of the process. I believe that is true in personal and work development.

I focus my efforts on work that provides value to me, others and cultivates a life I enjoy living, or at least one in which i'm happy developing.
